Car Tips: A Few Quick Fixes For Car Troubles

Taking care of your car is important, but you know that every so often that may be hard to do. Sometimes you are unaware of the problem, and it hits you out of nowhere. You can get stuck in the middle of the road with an unresponsive vehicle. But the following guideline of varied quick fixes may help you get back on the road or at least to the nearest mechanic.

The Start Up Problem

There are several reasons why your car might die on you. Some could be as easy as giving your car a jump or putting gas in your car. But what if the car still does not start?

Well, you can try to shake your starter up a little. This trick can only help you start the car, but it won't fix the problem. To perform this trick, just follow the steps below:

  1. What you need to do is go under your vehicle and look for the metal cover around the starter. The metal won't look much different from the rest of the other large metal pieces under your car. You will find it right in the middle of your two front tires.
  2. Gently tap the general area with a hammer, or use a similar tool that you find.
  3. You should now go back into your car, and try to turn on your car. That may do the trick.

Take your car to the nearest mechanic if you are able to turn it on. You may have a bad starter or some other issue. Of course, you should also be prepared to call a good tow truck should you fail to turn on your car. Most good tow trucks are mobile mechanics and may get you going without having to tow you anywhere.

The Radiator Problem

If you know that your car has a radiator problem, and this causes you to break down or smoke on the road, there may be something that you can do. All you need is an egg. Just keep a few fresh eggs in your car. And this may help get your car moving for a little while longer. You should still carry coolant and water, too.

You can just crack an egg, and put it into your radiator as you add water. The egg will cook as it tries to find an exit; this will find the leak that may be causing your radiator to overheat. The egg will cool and stop the leak, at least until you are able to get to a mechanic.

You should also ride the car slower if you have radiator problems to lessen the pressure you are putting on it.

Remember to keep the information of a good towing services company handy whenever you go out because quick fixes will not always work.
